We started with a simple observation: the over-the-counter (OTC) foreign exchange market is the largest financial network on Earth, yet it operates in the dark. It is a fragmented system of banks, brokers, and informal transfer networks, where value is lost in the gaps between closed systems.
The Lagrange Era
Lagrange was born to bridge these gaps. We built on Solana for high-speed, on-chain settlement in the currency spot market. We created:
- FIX Protocol Integration: Connecting on-chain matching with traditional financial standards.
- USDL & EUROL: The first iterations of collateral-backed units of account.
- Distributed Matching: A network that didn't rely on a single central authority.
Then, 2022 happened.
Survival of the Graph
The collapse of FTX, Serum, and TerraUSD wasn't just a market event; it was a stress test for our thesis. We lost our primary liquidity venue (Serum) and our settlement partner (FTX). But while the venues failed, the architecture survived.
The lesson was clear: The trading layer is a dependency. The graph is the architecture.
We pivoted. We moved the legal anchor to Poland and secured VASP registration. We moved from "building an exchange" to "mapping the substrate."
The Pivot to ƒxyz
ƒxyz is the realization of that shift. We no longer aim to be just another venue. We are the version-tracked substrate that finance runs on.
